Digital TV delayed until June 12, 2009

The paper today reported that the transition to Digital TV has been delayed until June 12, 2009. It guess that’s good news if you don’t have the necessary equipment, but it’s not like we just heard about the transition yesterday. This is something that has been in the works for years and the public has been inundated with the news of the transition almost every day for the last year. It has even been broadcast in mulitple languages so people can’t say they didn’t know about it because they don’t speak english. If they don’t speak english and they live in the United States on a permanent basis, THEY SHOULD SPEAK ENGLISH…but then that’s another story.

Picture of TV

Looks like the government has run out of money for the coupons they were issuing at $40.00 a pop so people would only have to pay 20 t0 30 bucks out of pocket. There are 3.3 million people on a waiting list for the coupons. The government says that they don’t have any more money for the program. Well let us see. Three point three million times 40 dollars is only 132 million, a meer drop in the bucket for a government that is bailing everbody and his brother out of financial trouble. The financial ripoffs in this country are absolutely out of hand and our newly elected president is appointing people to his cabinet who don’t see fit to pay taxes, especially the guy who is going to run the treasury. I say the government should do the right thing and just ship every household two converters each. After all, it is their idea to make this transition and then expect everybody to go out and buy a new TV or converter box! Just print more money! It can’t be any more wasteful than what has been going on in this country for many, many years.

Mine is not to reason why, but just go out and buy. One of the problems with the delay, is that some of the TV stations will probably go to half power on the analog signal, as they have stated they would, meaning that folks on the frenges may not get a good signal if any at all. I say just get it over with on February 17 and people will find a way to adjust. That’s my opinion, what’s yours?
