Elk Valley RV Park and Fly Shop

After leaving Creede, CO, we went with our friends to La Veta, CO and stayed at Elk Valley RV Park and Fly Shop. It was a rather strange trip in that our friends and us were the only campers in the campground. Things really slow in this area after Labor Day, so I guess that might explain the absence of RVers.

This campground is a small campground with only 25 RV sites and no tent sites or rental units. However, it is a nice well maintained campground that is in a small town and across from a nice 18 hole golf course. We continue to come back to this campground because it is a nice place to go and just relax. There are a lot of mule deer that frequent the golf course and occasionally come into the campground. There are also a few bear that come into the campground looking for any food that might have been left over from the day’s meals. On this trip we had several bears in the campground the first night that we were there.

Unfortunately, the nice people who have owned this campground since we first started going there, have decided to sell the campground. We hope that the new owners will be as nice as the previous owners and will continue to maintain the campground as it has been.
