It’s been a quiet Labor Day weekend at Elk Meadow Lodge and RV Resort

This is the Labor Day weekend and Elk Meadow Lodge and RV Resort is basically full. We walked in the campground this afternoon and saw a couple of empty sites but for all practical purposes the campground is full. Their tent camping is overflowing. They are allowing folks to set up tents in the RV storage area and I saw one 5th wheel parked there for a day in an overflow site.

Not only is this campground full but the other campgrounds here in Estes Park all appear to be full. This campground’s sister campground, Spruce Lake RV Park, is definitely full. We were there yesterday for a fishing tournament that they put on every Saturday morning and all of their RV sites looked occupied.

This campground is fairly large with 172 RV sites, 8 rental cabins, one RV rental and a lot of tent sites. This is the first time that we have been here for a labor day weekend and seen the campground virtually at capacity. We have been very impressed at how quiet the campground has been. With all of the families here with the children and most people with at least one dog, you would expect more noise or commotion. We walk the campground several times a day and have not seen anyone out of line with drinking or noise. Everyone here seems to be very respectful of their neighbor and the kids are all under control. It has been very nice! This is the way campgrounds should be all the time.

This is why they call it Elk Meadow.

We will be leaving here in a few days, so we will not get to see the Aspens turn.  However, we were in the National Park today and in the higher elevations the Aspens are starting to turn.  They are a little early this year because of the lack of rain.
