Mill Creek Ranch Resort

Every now and then we run across a RV park that is a cut above the average. On our return trip from Eureka Springs, AR, we stopped in Canton, TX and stayed at the Mill Creek Ranch Resort. A friend of ours stayed there just after the park was opened for business. He was very impressed with the park and said that we should go there some day. Since our return trip would take us across Interstate 20 east of Mill Creek Ranch Resort, we decided to go a little out of the way and stop at the Mill Creek Ranch Resort.

Mill Creek Ranch Resort is truly a very nice resort/RV park. They have a 10/10/10 rating from Trailer Life and they deserve it. The folks who built this resort/RV park put a lot of thought into it and did a good job. It is not only a RV park but also a place where you can buy small cottages or have weddings, family reunions or other types of gatherings. The 100 RV sites are mostly pull throughs that are wide and about 90 feet long. All of the sites have concrete pads and all are full hookups with 20/30/50 amp electric service. The grounds are very well kept and nicely landscaped.

Of the amenities at this facility, there are two swimming pools. One is at the front of the park and is for use by the RV park. There is a cabana attached with an outdoor grill. The other pool is at the Lodge at the back of the park. As I understand, it is mostly for the owners of the cottages and their guests. There is also a large pavilion with outdoor cooking available.

One of the most unusual features is a frisbee golf course. It raps around the side and back of the park. I have never played frisbee golf but it looks like it would be fun to try.

Mill Creek Ranch Resort is just about .25 mile south of I-20 on highway 19 or Trade Days Blvd. This makes it very convenient for an overnight stop when traveling down I-20. However, the park is so nice, I could go there just for the sake of being there. There is another reason for coming and staying at the Mill Creek Ranch Resort. That would be for the First Monday Trade Days in Canton, TX. This is a very popular monthly event in this area. Thousands of people show up each month on the first Monday to look for bargins from the multitude of vendors. If you are going to be in the area on the first Monday, you need to call ahead, as in way ahead. The Mill Creek Ranch RV Resort is currently taking reservations a year in advance for First Monday. Anytime other than the First Monday, the park is pretty open unless they are having a large rally. The RV park was almost empty the night that we were there.

This resort is located on about 200 acres. Only about 40 acres is being used at this time. The lady working the office said that they are not sure what other things will be added to the remaining property but if they do as nice a job as they have so far, it will be a first class affair.
