Mountain Views at Rivers Edge RV Resort in Creede, CO

On our trip to Colorado, one of our stops was Creede, CO. We have been there once before about 4 years ago and liked it enough to plan a trip back there on this journey to Estes Park. Our campground of choice was Mountain Views at Rivers Edge. It is one of the nicest campgrounds that we have visited and is located on the banks of the Rio Grande River.

The campground is divided into two different sections. One section is a traditional RV park. The other section is an ownership area where you buy or lease your site. You can then improve your site using their guidelines. Some people have put a lot of money in the improvements and have some really nice amenties. The owners have done a nice job of landscaping and decorating the campground.

If you like the outdoors, then you will like Creede. There isn’t a lot to do there execpt enjoy nature. Fishing, hiking, off road jeep travel, and ATVs are the big draw for this area. They are very ATV friendly and many of the RVers bring their own ATVs with them. There are a couple of outfitters who rent ATVs by the day or even by the week. You can ride on any of the county roads or any of the many trails that traverse the country side.

Fishing is another of the big activities in the Creede area. There are a lot of lakes and of course the Rio Grande River. The head waters of the Rio Grande are just up the road from Creede.

The town of Creede is small but they have a nice¬†repertoire theater in town. We have heard a lot of good comments about it but have never attended any of the shows. Creede was a silver mining town many years ago but hasn’t been active in a long time. However, we were told that with the price of silver being at these lofty levels there is interest in possibly reopening the mines. It is a neat little town that I think you would enjoy.

There is a guest ranch by the name of Freemons 17 miles west of Creede on Highway 149. If you go to Creede, you need to go to Freemons and have one of their cheeseburgers. They have a reputation for making the best cheeseburgers around. We went there on this trip and I must say that they lived up to their reputation. It is not on the Weight Watchers diet! I’m afraid to guess at the number of calories in the burger but it was really good!

If you go to Creede, CO in your RV, I recommend that you stay at Mountain Views at Rivers Edge RV Park.
