New Year at Farm Country RV Park

Happy New Year to everyone, even though it is a day late. Today is the second day of 2011 which means we only have 364.25 days left until 2012. Therefore, I need to start now making plans for next New Years celebration so that it might be a little more exciting than this past celebration.

It has been almost a month since we were here at the campground, so we thought that we should come here to recoup from the Christmas rush and celebrate our new year. Our oldest daughter and her family were suppose to come out New Years eve day and be with us in the camper. However, plans changed and they were not able to come so it was just my wife and I plus our oldest grandson.

My grandson and I left here on Thursday morning to go out to the deer lease one last time before the season closed. Friday morning we were up at 5:15 AM and on the deer stand by 6 AM. My grandson shot a deer at 7:45 AM. By the time we had it cleaned and had packed up, it was 10:00 AM. We had to take the deer meat to a processing place on our way back to the camper. We were back at the camper about 2 PM and I was looking forward to nap. However, my wife had other plans so I didn’t get my nap.  Without that nap I knew that it was going to be tough to make it to midnight.

When we thought that our family would be here, we had planned to go to the 11th Street Cowboy Bar in Bandera for New Years eve.  After talking with a few folks here in the campground, they convinced us that we probably would not enjoy the very crowed conditions at the 11th Street Cowboy Bar.  We had to take their word for it since they had been before.

We thought that maybe there would be a wild celebration planned here at the campground but there wasn’t.  Seems like someone thought that someone else was going to make preparations for a get together but that someone dropped the ball and therefore there was no party.

So it came to pass that it was only my wife, my grandson and I left to party here at the camper.  We invited some of the deer over for a drink but as you can see below one of  the ladies must have been hitting the sauce a little early and was drinking out of a wash tub.Deer at campground

These are some of the other deer that showed up. They were more well behaved and had better manners than the one above.  Deer at campground

Our New Years eve party consisted of being entertained by the deer, cooking steaks on the grill and watching the movie “RV” with Robin Williams.   We invited the deer to watch the movie but when I fired up the grill they decided they had another party to attend.  If you’ve never seen the movie, I highly recommend it.  We had seen it before but still laughed as much this time as we did the first time.   Since I didn’t get my nap that afternoon, I was in bed by 10:30 pm.  I just couldn’t keep my eyes open!  My wife and grandson made it to midnight.  Oh well, maybe next year I can make it?

Have a good year!
