Ramblin’ Pines Family Campground and RV Park

While visiting with our son and his family, we stayed at Ramblin’ Pines Family Campground and RV Park in Woodbine, MD. Woodbine is a very small town just north of Interstate 70 and about 13 miles south of Westminster, MD where our son lives. The campground is east of town and about 1/2 mile west of Highway 97 that runs up to Westminster.

The last three times that we came to this area in our camper, we stayed in Gettysburg, PA at the Drummer Boy Camping Resort. That put us north of Westminster and about 40 minutes driving time down to our son’s house in Westminster. We were very impressed with the Drummer Boy Camping Resort so each time we came up we stayed there. The second year that we came up here, we checked out Ramblin’ Pines Camping Resort. For some reason, which neither one of us can remember, we weren’t very impressed. However, in an effort to get a little closer in driving time, we decided to give it a try this year and we are glad that we did.

The Ramblin’ Pines Camping Resort is a very nice RV Park with about 250 RV campsites. They also offer cabin rentals and have several areas for tent camping. They have some nice amenities to enhance your camping experience. There is a swimming pool, game room, workout room, several playground areas, miniature golf, outdoor games and a jumping pillow. The jumping pillow is something that I had never seen until we saw one at the Chattanooga KOA on our second night on the way up. The jumping pillow here is larger than the one at the KOA. It looks like it would be a lot of fun, even for adults, but I think it is meant more for the kids. There is also a pond for catch-n-release fishing. We tried fishing but didn’t catch anything to release. The outdoor games include shuffleboard, horseshoes, basketball and a small area to play soccer.

This campground dosen’t have cable TV but it is possible to receive a number of over the air TV stations for those who do not have a satellite dish. Cable TV is being brought in but there is no time frame for when it will be complete. They do have WiFi but I was very disappointed with the WiFi. Their information says that they don’t want you to do much more than check your email with the wireless Internet. They monitor your connection and if you are using too much bandwidth, they automatically slow your connection. This prevents you from doing much of anything on their WiFi. It was extremely slow and at times useless. Such a nice campground should have a better Internet connection or just not have one at all.

This campground is in a country setting with a lot of shade trees. It is far enough away from I-70 that you don’t get any highway noise and is therefore very quiet. It appears that most of the people who come to this campground come for days or weeks at a time. They also have seasonal campers who stay for extended periods of time. However, the campground is located close enough to I-70 that it can easily be used as an overnight campground when traveling down the interstate.

We are glad that we gave this campground a try and will be using it from now on when we come up to visit our son.
