Farm Country RV Park
The Farm Country RV Park is located about 4 miles south of Medina, TX and about 8 miles north of Bandera, TX. They are on Pue Road which is off FM 2828. FM 2828 runs only between Highway 16 and Highway 173. If you are traveling north out of Bandera you can take either Highway 16 to FM 2828 or Highway 173 to FM 2828. If you are coming south out of Kerrville do not take Highway 16. It is not camper friendly with sharp curves and some steep grades. Only take Highway 173 south out of Kerrville.
The Farm Country RV Park has 69 very large campsites. Some being larger than others. The one that we have our camper on is located along a ridge line and offers a very nice view to the southeast unobstructed by other campers. We look at it as our cabin in the Texas hill country. We park our camper there from October to the end of March. We are not winter Texans since we live north of Houston, Texas. However, most of the people who are there in that time frame are from the cold climits.
The road into the campground and the enterior roads are gravel, but they are well maintained. There is a small community building for gatherings but no central bath and shower area. They have just added a new wash room at the recreational area. In the recreational area they have a very nice outdoor swiming pool, a nice tennis court with basketball hoops at either end, pool tables, ping pong tables, horse shoe pits and other outdoor activities. They do not have cable TV or WiFi. However, you can receive the local San Antonio TV stations.
We like this place for a number of reasons. It is located on a ranch owned by Homer & Cathy Stevens, therefore, we are in a country setting. It is a quite and secure campground by nature of its location and there is a abundance of wildlife that roams through the campground during the day. The ranch is open to walking on any of the roads that go through the pastures, giving us a great place to walk our Border Collie. There are small towns to visit and great places to shop. In Bandera, "The Cowboy Capital of The World", everyone has to eat at least once at the OST Restuarant. The food is good and in our opinion they serve the best coconut cream pie that we have eaten. You also need to check out Love Creek Cider Mill and Country Store in Medina. They are famous for their large apple pies. So to end this, we think that the Farm Country RV Park is a great little campground to park and visit the beautiful Texas Hill Country. Open all year.
