Rivers Edge at Deer Park
Rivers Edge at Deer Park is located in Heber City, UT south of Interstate 80 on US 40. The park is just below the dam on the Jordanelle Reservoir. The Provo River flows out of the dam and is only a few hundred yards from the campground. This provides for good fly fishing for trout.
The campground has 76 gravel sites with 46 of them being pull thrus. All sites have electricity (30/50amp) and water but only 34 have sewer. They also have 40 tent sites and 13 rental units. There are the usual restroom/showers, some rv supplies, laundry, WiFi, picnic table at each site and pets are welcome. They also have a fly fishing shop since they are so close to the Provo River.
The location of Heber City puts you close to Park City, UT and Salt Lake City, UT. Park City is a great place to visit either in the winter for snow skiing or in the summer for just enjoying the places to eat and shop. We made a trip into Salt Lake City and went to the Morman Tabernacle to listen to the choir on Sunday morning. I had heard them many times on the radio as a kid, seen them on TV and was quite impressed when I got to see them up close. Heber City is very close to Sundance, which is the skii area owned by Robert Redford. We went there for a Sunday brunch which was very nice.
Our friends took us into the higher mountains west of Heber City to one of the lakes by the name of Mirror Lake. The lake is stocked with trout which you can see swimming all over the lake. The area is also ATV friendly in many areas. We took one day and rented a couple of ATVs and went to the mountains and had a good time. We were there in the summer and riding the ATVs in the beatiful mountains was a great experience. If you go and do the ATV thing, make sure that you have proper directions as to where you can ride because some of the area is closed to ATVs.
We have been to this park only once while we were visiting our friends. The campground appearance isn't the best but it was adequate for our visit. They have a number of people who live there full time and some of the campers are not well kept. However, we would use the campground again if we were in the area for a visit.
