Fort Chiswell RV Campground is located in Max Meadows, Virginia off of Interstate 81/Interstate 77. To get to the campground, take exit 80 and if you are going east take a right turn onto US 52 and go about 4 tenths of a mile and turn left onto Chiswell Road. If going west on the Interstate, take a left and go back over the Intersate onto US 52 and go about 4 tenths of a mile and turn onto Chiswell Road. Go slow as you approach the entrance as it is a little hard to see. I noticed one camper missing the turn that evening and had to turn around and come back.
The campground has 92 campsites with full hook up and 30/50 amp connections. However, most of the sites are 30 amp. The first 27 sites on the right as you come into the campground are all 50 amp. There are several other sites that have 50 amp capability. Most of the sites are pull-thrus and can accomidate big rigs. A few of the sites are end to end as in parallel parking and there is a row of backin sites. Some of the sites are fairly close together, especially the ones on the left as you come into the campground. The ones on the right as you come into the campground are very nice roomy sites. The backin sites are fairly close together. They do not allow tent camping. There are two rental units available. The interior roads are gravel but in good shape.
The amenities at the campground include cable TV with an abundance of channels, picnic tables at the sites, a heated swimming pool, a picnic shelter, a playgound and a catfish pond where you must keep the fish if you catch them. There is a gift shop located in the office area. The bathrooms and laundry area are nice and clean. Pets are welcomed here and they have a very nice large pet walk area adjacent to the campground. I would guess it to be at least a half acre in size.
We stayed at this park on our way to Maryland. It is a nice clean park and we recommend it as a place to stay. The pictures included may look a little fuzzy, but this is because it was foggy the moring that we were leaving and taking the pictures.
