River Country Campground is located in Gadsden, Alabama which is between Birmingham, Alabama and Chattanooga, Tennese on Interstate 59. From Interstate 59 take exit 182 onto Interstate 759. Go about 3.5 miles and take highway 411 (exit 4B) to the left. Take the next right onto River Road which will deadend into the camp.
This campground is on the Coosa River. The interior roads are gravel but in very good condition. There are a total of 165 full hookup sites with 30/50 amp connections. One hundred nineteen of the sites are pull-thrus and 46 of the sites are backin sites located on the river. They also have 45 30 amp overflow sites. Tent camping is not allowed. They have a swimming pool and a kiddy pool. They have bath houses that have heat and air conditioning. There are three large meeting rooms that are good for group accommodations. Each site has cable TV and a picnic table. WiFi is also included as well as LP gas if needed. The restrooms are clean and there is a nice laundry facility. Since they are on the river, there is a boat launch and for those without boats there is fishing available from 4 piers or you can fish from the bank. Bring your fishing gear because we were told that the fishing is good.
This is a very nice campground with some nice touchs. There is a lighted walking path around the river banks with porch type swings located in a number of places. This gives you the opportunity to sit and relax while watching the river. There is also a small chapel located under the trees.
We recommend this campground as a destination or for an overnight stay. If you can get one of the backin river sites, you will have a nice view of the river.
