Raton KOA is located in Raton, NM. Coming from the North on I-25, take exit 451 and go west on US 64/87 to Second Street and take a left turn. Go about 1/2 mile and the entrance will be on your right. Coming from the South, take exit 450, business I-25 (Second Street) and go North about 1.5 miles. The park entrance will be on your left. There are 46 sites available with picnic tables available at each site. Twenty three of the sites are full hook up with 30/50 amp electric. Ten of the sites have water and electric only and 8 of the sites have no hook-ups. There are 2 cabins and a number of tent sites. There are also long term sites available. Some of the sites are side by side hook-ups. I'm not a fan of side by side but sometimes you can't avoid them. The amenities at the park include a game room with pool table, a playground, horseshoes, laundry facility, cable TV and free WiFi. There are restrooms at the office along with a gift shop. There are also restrooms, showers and laundry facility in the middle of the park. There is also a laundry in the office building. The laundry, restrooms and showers are clean and well kept. This KOA is not what I would call an attractive campground but it is clean and well maintained. There is an alley that cuts through the park and seperates the office and cabins from the camping sites. You have to be careful and check for traffic before crossing the alley. This campground is a good place to stop for an overnight stay. We have stayed at this park three times on our way from our home to Colorado. On one occassion we stayed an extra couple of days because we wanted to go to the Chapulin Volcano and did a day trip to Red River, NM.
