The Denver West/Central City KOA is located in Central City, Colorado.  The most direct route to Central City is to take I-70 west and exit on the Central City Parkway which is at exit 243.  Follow the Central City Parkway into Central City.  The last part of the Central City Parkway is an 8 percent descent to a stop sign.  Make two right turns, which is really more like a U turn to Spring St.  This will take you back up the 8 percent grade.  Spring Street will turn into Virgina Canyon Road.  Just before this road goes over Central City Parkway, turn left onto Lake Gulch Road.  The campground will be on the left about 1/4 mile. 

The trip up I-70 has several steep grades before reaching the Central City Parkway and the Central City Parkway has several 7 & 8 percent grades before the final 8 percent descent into Central City.  There is another route that is easier but perhaps a little longer.  This route does not have any steep grades but is rather a steady climb.  From Golden, Colorado, take Highway 6 west until it intersects with Highway 119.  Take Highway 119 through Black Hawk, CO and turn onto CO SH 279.  Take this road into downtown and follow it to a left turn in town.  Proceed straight ahead to Spring Steet.  Spring Street will turn into Virgina Canyon Road.  Just before this road goes over Central City Parkway, turn left onto Lake Gulch Road.  The campground will be on the left about 1/4 mile.

There are 67 RV sites and three tent sites.  All of the RV sites have 30/50 amp electricity and water and sewer.  All of the RV sites have nice concrete pads.  The interior roads are gravel.  There are 9 pull through sites with the rest being backin.  Sites 1 through 10 are set up for driving RVs so they pull into the site and have a nice view of Central City.

This is a nice campground that is situated on a hill that overlooks Central City.  The elevation at the campground is a little over 8 thousand feet.
