Camp Verde and fall colors in the Texas Hill Country

Day before yesterday, while still in Medina at The Farm Country RV Park, my wife and I went to lunch at Camp Verde General Store in Camp Verde, TX. Camp Verde is only about 7 or 8 miles from our campground. The wife enjoys going there to do a little shopping and I go there for the great sandwiches that are served for lunch. We each have our priorities! The General Store has a lot of very interesting items and does a big business during the luch hour. The store is across the street from Verde Creek where the cypress trees on the creek are turning with their fall colors and are very pretty at this time. The General Store is a great place to go and kill a little time.

Speaking of fall colors, November is the time of year that the Texas Hill Country comes alive with fall colors. There are places in the Hill Country that I think rival the fall colors of the northeast. I came back from Rocksprings a few days ago and took the road from Mountain Home along Johnson Creek into Ingram. The colors there are just magnificiant. My wife and I went to Lost Maples State Natural Area a few days ago to see the Big Tooth Maple trees. The trees were almost at their peak but still had about a week to go when we were there. The area is very popular all the time but much more so this time of year. Crowd control is called for during the peak of the fall colors of the Big Tooth Maples.
